Scott E. Sanders
is a native of Eureka, Kansas. He received his undergraduate
degree from Kansas State University (B.S., cum laude, 1995).
While attending Kansas State University, Mr. Sanders was
a member of numerous honor societies, including Mortar Board
and Phi Kappa Phi. Additionally, he was an active leader
in Beta Theta Pi social fraternity and was an all-university
intramural track champion.
Mr. Sanders obtained his legal education at Washburn University School of Law (J.D., with honors, 1998). While attending Washburn, he served as a member of the Washburn Law Journal. His article "Scarlet Letters, Bilboes, and Cable TV: Are Shame Punishments Cruel and Outdated or Are They a Viable Option for American Jurisprudence?" 37 WASHBURN L.J. 359 (1998) and his comment "Product Liability: Getting to the Heart of the Matter: Medical Device Preemption Defense Skips a Beat as Plaintiffs Are No Longer Completely Precluded from Bringing State Product Liability Claims Against Medical Device Manufacturers [Medtronic, Inc. v. Lohr, 116 S. Ct. 2240 (1996)]," 36 WASHBURN L.J. 319 (1997), were both published in that journal.
Mr. Sanders practices in Civil Litigation with a focus in
the area of insurance defense and trial practice. Through
the years, he has obtained significant trial experience because
of the firm's strong tradition of vigorous insurance defense.
Mr. Sanders has also effectively represented businesses of
all sizes at all levels, from formation through litigation.
In doing so, he has been successful in assisting businesses
with creating a productive business environment while minimizing
their litigation expenses. Finally, Mr. Sanders has assisted
individuals of all ages in obtaining significant recoveries
after suffering from serious personal injuries caused by
the negligence of others.
Mr. Sanders is licensed to practice in the courts of the
State of Kansas, the United States District Court for the
District of Kansas and the United States Tenth Circuit Court
of Appeals. Mr. Sanders is a member of the Wichita Bar Association,
Kansas Bar Association and Kansas Association of Defense
Counsel.
